40 Perspective: Foreign faces by Robert D. Turner
Occasionally, locomotives and rolling stock from other countries are brought to North America where their foreign appearance can make them stand out.
42 The Canadian Pacific Railway's Okanagan Landing circa 1914 by Hugh Clarke, Ray Hansen and Don Weixl                                                                                                                   Built for a local museum, this beautiful HO scale diorama helps to tell the story of how the CPR once used steamboats and rail lines to serve communities in British Columbia.
61 My visit to the legendary Gorre & Daphetid by Robert Hogan As a teenager, the author was invited to visit one of the world's most famous model railroads. Its creator, John Allen, would have turned 100 this year. Join us for a look back at that visit and a railroad that's been gone for almost 40 years.
    Modeling
49 Modeling a Soo Line 60-foot coach by Tom Houle
Using a combination of commercial and scratchbuilt parts, this classic steam-era passenger car can be constructed in either HO or O scales.
59 Removable flat car loads by Clark Propst
These loads, which can be added or removed as required, can make operations more interesting.
64 Making tender coal loads by Art VanDeWater
Here is how the author built a removable coal load for a sound equipped HOn3 tender. It will work in almost any scale.
66 Building a rail mounted snow blower by Glyn Thomas
This scratchbuilt, static display model was constructed from etched brass, which the author did himself.
70 Scratchbuilder's Corner: Mold making and casting: Pt. II by Bob Walker                                                                                                 This month we look at the casting process and some of the different materials that can be used.
72 RMC/Dremel Kitbashing Award: Three cabooses for the Port Richmond by Don Spiro                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           While they are different, these three cabooses, which started out as Roundhouse HO scale kits, all have a "family" look to them and are based on cars used by the Rutland Railroad.
    Cover
Okanagan Landing was a busy place in 1914. The S.S. Sicamous, seen here surrounded by scaffolding, was under construction and, in addition to its regular service, the Canadian Pacific was running special trains to bring in workers. Here, a trainload of laborers is seen departing Okanagan Landing for the short trip to Vernon in the late afternoon. This HO diorama was built by members of the North Okanagan Model Railroad Club. It is on display in the former stationmaster's house at Okanagan Landing, which now houses the Vernon and District Museum. Photograph by Don Weixl.
